two dart type points PICs
« on: April 08, 2008, 02:14:22 pm »
Two dart "generic" styled points.  Both Glass Buttes Obsidian.  Both all "abo" tools.  I was able to get them nice and thin.  I was afraid I'd end up with a bending fracture and four little arrow heads.

Great looking points. Now flute that mahogany one. It won't break- Eddie and Chris promise that it won't.  ;D

Yeah sure it won't break... How many times have I told myself that line???   ;D  Naw, I think it is to flat or thin to flute.  I've not ever had much luck fluting.  I need to learn that.

Very nice.  I almost bought me some mahogany from a guy at OJAM, but never made it back to his booth.  Pretty stuff.

Very nice points brother.. I would leave the fluting to Cowboy or watcher... better than having a broken point..  ;) Hawk  a/ho

Thanks for the compliments.  It's nice to have someone to share with.

Yeah, the fluting thing isn't for me.  Sounds like I should send it off to someone and have them do it.  We could have a pass- along point ;D

In this case Paul it would eventually end up as community debutage!  ;D

For those of you who are into fluting,  how would a guy go about it?

Grind on the base at an angle. Then chip an isolated platform in the center. Then you can either,if you feel lucky ;D Hit it downward with a bopper or do as It like I do. Take an Ishi stick and push down on the nipple while supporting it between your knees with a leather pad against the side you are fluting. Make sense?
