Question for some bicycle guy
« on: February 18, 2019, 04:50:11 pm »
I was just cutting up an old bike tube and I noticed it had this instead of the usual Schrader valve. Is this new or just different? Never seen one of these.

No not new it's called a presta valve been around for a very long time ,,,in my other (thinner) life I was a bicycle racer,,,,,,,you learn to have a love hate relationship with those  ,,,,btw ther is an adapter to fill those with a schrader  type pump also a rubber gromet to adapt to a schrader valve  rim  to fill you have to un screw the stem slightly fill then tighten down (oh the failures I've had ) good luck jeffw

Interestingly enough,

 if you take the little,

cone-shaped plastic cap that comes with a presta

valve and snip off the top 3 milimetres and re-place

it on the valve it acts just like a Schrader valve.

Really do learn something new everyday - never saw one of those before!  But I put the "no more flats" on my road bike!  Tubes in the mountain bike!  But the tires don't stop sand spurs!  Plan to make tie down straps with any tubes kicking around! >:D
