Need fresh eyes
«

This is another one made of elm.
I'm almost finished tillering (it's at 24" pulling 42#)
I'm going for around 45# at 26".
With it unbraced the left limb is taking more set
than the right but it also seems to be leaving the
handle at a more downward slope than the right.
Should I try to steam bend that left limb to
match the right or just leave it alone?
The tiller seems ok to me but I would like
some other eyes on it.

Trace the left limb at full draw on a piece of paper and lay the right limb over it. I think it will show you the stiff spots in the right limb.

I compared it with tracing paper and it looks
like outer and mid limb need wood taken off.
I'll post the fix later.
Thanks guys.

Ain't this community great?

Might be a good idea to take a video of the bow being drawn by hand. Watch it over and over and see if it rocks back one way or the other to a stuffer limb. Some folks use I mirror but I cant seem to get that down yet. Looks like your mighty close .

I fixed the tiller on this (I got it close anyway).
I did the tracing paper test on it and the
limbs match pretty good. I put a bunch of arrows
through it and it shoots fine.
I wrapped the limbs with some hemp because
there were a couple of minor cracks.
Stained it and put on some polyurethane on it.

You need to build in more of a fade transition into your bows like at least 4" on each side. I think this will help in your tillering end game. So a total of 12" from end fade to end fade, it looks like you only have about 7".

It's about 8" but I'll keep that in mind next time.
Thanks for the tip.
