Need a few eyes on my yew tiller!
« on: March 20, 2019, 11:27:18 am »
Hello Again,

I’ve taken some more wood off of my yew sapling bow, and I’m curious if y’all have any tips for this tiller.

This one is tough for me, since it’s my first time doing this solo, and I’ve used my worst stave. At the moment, the knotty limb looks like it’s a bit stiffer, but I think the knots and crooks in that limb may be throwing me off.

Drawing ~42 lbs @24” looking for about 45/50 lbs @29”, but I honestly don’t care if it gets down to 30lbs so long as it shoots clean.

Anyhow, here are the photos, knotty limb on the right for the first two photos, then flipped so it’s on the left in the next two.

At about 5” brace in each of the first photos, then drawn to about 24”

Thanks for looking!

- Pat

Yup that naughty knotty limb is stiff ;). The whole thing is stiff I think but watch that kink about a foot in from the tip. That will mess with your eyes

The outer right limb is stiff and both inner limbs can bend a bit more.

+1 on what Pat B says...
Bottom pic, right limb is pretty good, left is stiff out of the fade.
Both could bend a tad more near the fade.

Hey Pat. Thanks for all of your help through this process! When you say right limb, which picture are you talking about?

Hey,

It’s 1 1/2” at the fades, just under 1 1/4” mid limb and just under 3/4” close to the tips. It’ll get thinner at the tips though.
