Buffalo horn

Picked up some buffalo horn for tip overlays. Is it like wood, cut, rasp, sand, and stain?

Yes.  But I've never tried to stain horn.  I don't know how well that would work.

I meant seal, like with spar urethane.

Like Clint said and yes, just seal over it with whatever sealer you normally use. I've used gel and regular super glue, Tite Bond glue and 2 ton epoxy to glue buff horn, all worked well.

Water buffalo, or bison?  Probably not too much difference in the process, but I think the composition is different.  Not sure, so I asked.

I have a good bit of it.  It polishes up nicely.  I stole my wifes Magic Nail File for the job.  Little 3 sided get up with different grits.  Snuck a new one in on her when she wasn't looking.

THAT was a smart move! (lol).  I use diamond needle files for a lot of the fine work.  Got a bunch of cow horn that should work for nocks, and some antler for tips when I get to that level!
