Backing lam q
« on: March 04, 2019, 02:17:10 pm »
Hey there, I'm just trying to get my first backing lam from a stave and I am running into trouble. If I just flatten the lam it will have uneven thickness but will be nice to glue up. sanding and scraping to an even thickness following the grain would be lots of work and end up in a questionable glue line probably. What to do best? I^m planning some kind of two wood bow. Should I better look for a more suitable piece of wood instead of putting lots of work into doubtful outcome? Thanks very much for your thoughts!
Cheers

Better to  use very clean wood for this purpose.
