I've used all the backings you listed and like ash the most. It stays very firm and seems to add snap. The others do their job just fine, but didn't see much a difference in any of them.

I have been using white Ash lately and it seems great.  Even on heavy wood

Shortly before his untimely passing, Chris Boyton made me a superb ELB, which I now keep only for shoots on high days and holidays. It has a yew belly and is backed with a piece of continuous single growth ring ash. Given how it shoots, I can heartily recommend ash backed yew :)
