Most of my arrows are only about 5" longer than that. Might consider getting a CCW. For that one Bassman.

Brogg, what the heck is a CCW? Just wanted to see how far I could stretch sinew backed Osage that was that short. Some of the Plains Indians did shoot bows this short, but most were from 44 to 50 inches long. The arrow is 23 inches long made from spice bush, turkey feathers, and stone head. The outfit would be handy shooting on horse back, and at close range it would kill.

Concealed Carry Weapons permit.lol. You could almost stick that one in your pocket. I have no doubt it would kill. The first year I went to Marshall Primitive Archery Meet, we did a mini bow challenge. Bow had to be natural materials and know longer than 24" total length. That was a very interesting bow to build. You really had to make every inch bend, which I'm sure you did with this one to. At first they we're talking about playing Archery tag with them, but we quickly decided against that.  Nobody wanted to get shoot by them.

Oh, I see my friend. This is the shortest Plains bow I have ever made.I have made quiet a few short bows mostly because that is what I had in wood at the time. You have to admire our native people for what they could do with these bows in war ,and in feeding their family,s.

What an awesome little bow, bassman!

I bet it flings those darts.

If you don't mind me asking, what brace height are you using?

I'm currently working on a 43" shorty too. Bamboo tri-lam with a 'half belly' from massaranduba. Siyahs are Brazilian Ash.

Its looking like it's headed for 40-45# at full draw, which I want to be 24". The massa belly is giving me trouble though. It keeps getting crushed!

When I shoot the bow the brace is 4 inches. The natives shot pinch finger, and the push with their bow hand would pull the arrow from their right hand.Les chance of the bow breaking.Wish I could help you with yours.Maybe enter a topic, and get some advice from others on Pa.I hope you get it fixed.Bob.
