Yeah Threesons it has to be the most unpleasant wood to smell that I have worked with. In fact its the only one I have come across so far. But that's not going to stop me from trying to find more:) You should give it another try. I'd have never thought dogwood would be in that list as well but thanks for the heads up Ed, hope to give that a go later this winter.
Im surprised I have not seen walnut stain used more often Don. Ive been using commercial wood dyes but have been trying to study up on ways to stain wood and leather using materials I can find. Also for months now I've been pondering camo ideas, looking at the theories of military styles and wildlife. I liked how it looked in my shop but never thought until I took the pictures that it would fit in so well in the woods. Always nice to stumble on something like that. Ill be working with that more.
