Limb failure?

Hey everyone, new to the site so not sure if this is the right place. But I just made my first self bow and had a limb failure already. My question is this a death sentence for my bow or is it still safe to use?

It's on the back of the bow near the grip

Yeah, find another stave.
Looks like the back ring was violated and it lifted a splinter.

Dang that's what I was afraid to hear. Thanks for the advice. Time to start a new one.

You have to be very careful when obtaining a back ring not to violate it at all. If the wood was cut during the growing season the bark will peel off leaving a pristine back, the best possible option.

Just curious:
did fail while shooting or while working on the bow?
This thing looks like a sapling bow, may be you have violated the back?
