osage, take downn
« on: September 24, 2018, 11:07:45 am »
hello guys,
I got a stave from my friend Simon, maybe 2 years ago. that stave had an angle from maybe 30° in the middle of it`s length, so I decide to build a take down.

the measurements: NtN 63", TtT 64,5",  width at fade 39mm, thickness behind the fade outs: 13,5mm, width at Tips: 10mm, thickness at the Tips 16mm"
Draw weight 42# @ 28",
the bow was for 3 days in the "fuming pipe"
the sleeve is made by myself (also Simon`s way)
Tip overlays and Arrow pass are from buffolo horn,
the total weight is 740 g, inclused the weight from the sleeves (260 g), so the weight without sleeves ist 480 g.
belly side: I glued up a piece from ash, for the handle, you can see the diffrent Colour after "fuming" and on the back I leave 2 extra rings for the Metall sleeve.

Diagramm:
Zoll   lbs           Diff
5   0
8   9
10   12,5     3,5
12   15,5     3
14   18,5     3
16   21,5         3
18   24,5     3
20   27,5     3
22   30,5     3
24   34         3,5
26   38        4
28   42        4

she feels good balanced and shoots very smooth
thank you for looking, hope you like it

Very nice!  Love when you can't tell it's a take down until you see pictures of it apart.

That is some really fine work Hans. I can see the Simson influence, but it's got it's own character as well. Happy shootin'!  (SH)

That's a nice bow! Takedown sleeve doesn't look bulky at all, good job on that one!

Very nice Hans. Good teacher good student. Glad to see Simson passing his skills along and you guys picking them up. I'd agree with Upstate. Can see both of you in that bow.
