The shop where I work is next door to a custom meat market. They have another site where they process wild game, just not at this site. Still, during hunting season, I see folks drive up with game they need cut up.
This morning two very young boys drove up with this buck. The points are less than 3 inches from meeting in the middle. Pity it was shot with a wheel bow, but still, these two young men did a good job tracking and retrieving.
In talking with them, it rapidly became clear that neither had the skills to cut it up themselves and with 90 degree temps today, they could not wait until a processor opens tomorrow. I sent them home with two 20 lb bags of ice and instructions to skin it out and packed in ice wrapped in a plastic tarp in the shade.
When I get off work tonite I will meet up with them and bring my knives and grinder. To the victor goes the spoils, and it ain't spoiling on my watch!
