Osage static for Reas 48/28” (No. 105)

This bow is a gift for my good friend Reas, I hope he will like it.
It is from a nice stave with lot of character, which caused some time for tillering. I let the wiggles in the side view, so the fd look somehow weird. But it is well balanced and came out as a good shooter.
The arrow pass and the tip overlays are buffalo horn.
I did some fuming experiments in the last months with different salt combinations.
In this case the whole thing got fumed for 4 days after a saltwater treatment – and the colors came out great (at least I think so).
Dry heat corrections only for string tracking, the recurves are steamed in and got string grooves.

Well Simson, if your friend doesn't like it I'm sure someone else on here will. Can't imagine he wouldn't though. That is a beautiful bow anyway you look at it. Love the wiggles, profiles and the colors came out fantastic. That's right up there on the top of my favorites list. You sir build some beautiful bows.

Yeah, just table salt solution in this case. The salt reacts somehow with the fuming damps.

I did a lot of experiments with different salts such as soda, borax, and some others (I don't know the English names). I got different results.

Fantastic. How do you stitch the handle like that?

I assume stiching a   x x x x x   pattern is not a problem for you. Begin on top of the handle with needles on each end of the yarn, be sure to have the same length on each side and work downwards. To get the    xxxxxxx   pattern just do the same thing twice, beginning at the second holes. Make a knot at the ends and hide it under the leather. Hope that makes sense.
