Cayman Islands Bamboo Self Bow.
« on: August 22, 2018, 07:06:44 pm »
Hi Guys,

Following on from my previous post of my first Bhutanese style bow.

http://www.primitivearcher.com/smf/index.php/topic,63826.msg897009.html#msg897009

I progressed up to a complete Boo self bow, our bamboo on island is not very wide at about 2 1/2 in diameter but this new one came out nice.

It is 56 inch knock to knock, with a built up riser which was made from Cayman indigenous Iron wood, then wrapped with Jute cord which was
soaked in Titebond III. It then has a leather handle wrap with an arrow self on the left side tucked inside the wrap, finished with Iron wood
knock tips and a Flemish loop string made out of B50 dacron and center served with a knocking point.

It came out with a sweet tiller and pulls 38 lbs at 28 inch draw, it's probably at the max weight with this bamboo, but it shoots nice and sweet
with very little hand shock that I could feel.

I do love working with bamboo.

Cheers

means a Full Draw photo, so we can see what she looks like all bent and ready to fire.

That's what we mean by a full draw.  Very nicely done. Once again looks like a fun project.
