Okay, the name is a bit cheesy.
It's cause the top limb has a water snake skin (surf) and the bottom has a garter (turf).
Anyway, this bow is a short, sinew-backed yew branch. It has a really high crown, and I didn't have a whole lot of sinew, so I ran a moderate coarse along the very top of the crown. This was mainly to allow me a 27" draw with a 50" piece of wood. It worked, cause I've been shooting it a bunch and it's holding the unbraced profile nicely. It shoots a 10 gpp arrow between 140-150 fps. Not great, but not bad either.
