Thank you all for the kind words!
Wow, that is something else. Hard act to follow. That must take some real patience to scoop that out. Do you know what the bow weighed when finished?
Thanks, Badger. It does take a lot of patience. I used a curved chisel to get it started but then it was all goose neck scraper from there. Slooow going. At least it's yew which carves pretty easy. The bow weighs 800 grams. I don't know how that compares. The handle is a bit bulky compared to my other handle style and it has hide and skin glued on. It shoots very quickly but it doesn't feel super light in the hand like some of my other bows.
Very very very nice! I'm sure not going to post my hollow limb for a long time
Thanks DC! Aww, come on. post it!
Absolutely, beautiful work, what is your opinion of the performance of a hollow limb bow? is it a performer or just a looker?
DBar
Thank you, Danzn Bar. I've only made a few so I'm not an expert on the matter but they seem to perform as well as a comparable flatbow. To me, it's a chance to make a high crowned stave competitive again
That's sweet as a nut.
I've got a rather iffy Yew stave that someone wants turning into a bow.
Nice dark heartwood, V thin sapwood and a handful of shakes I might try an HLD it's not a commission as such but he wants something a bit different if possible.... play time

Do it! I'd love to see your take on the HLD
