String ?

Not sure if this is the right forum. If not let me know. I picked up a wood bow at a flea market for $20.00. I need to get a string on it to test the draw weight.  It is 66" notch to notch and 67 1/4" tip to tip. Any suggestions.
Any tips on stringing a wood bow and not damaging it?
This is the first wood bow for me in over 50 years. I am trying to build a red oak board bow and though this could give me some visual pointers.

You will probably need a string in the 62"- 63" range.  Here is a video on how to string it.  Remove the space in the www's  and copy the link.

Is it an old lemonwood or hickory bow? can you post pics? If it is old you should reeducate it to bend or there is a chance of it breaking.

Thanks guys, I am guessing hickory. It has a "W" splice reinforced on the belly side.

At 66" N to N you will need a string 63" long, a bit more than wouldn't hurt as you can always twist it.

The other guys are the experts, but exercise it up to full draw slowly, very slowly!  Watch, listen, and feel!  Also, inspect it very closely!  Good luck!

I am going to try to make the string a little long and work back to full draw S-L-O-W-L-Y. Maybe just make a para-cord or Kevlar to use unlil I am sure of the length?

The listen part I heard an unsettling noise unstringing. I don't see any splinters.

I heard an unsettling noise unstringing. I did not find any splinters. Hope nothing serious. The para cord is too thick and the kevlar too thin.
