That root beer point is killer.  You ever find flint in N IL?  I grew up on Flint Creek in Lake County.  Wondered if you knew of workable stone up that way.

Parnell: There is next to nothing around here since the glaciers smashed it all into gravel. There's some down at starved rock and at the western boarder of Illinois but not in large amounts or very good quality. I travel quite far to collect rock...usually 14 hours driving round trip.
