Leaving Tips Wide

When you leave the tips wide for string alignment when do you narrow them? After full brace and the alignment is good? Do you have to leave the tips a little stiff until then? Just double checking my thinkin' :)

I usualy leave them 1/2wide and 5/8 thick until close to final tiller then trim them to about 5/16 wide.

Once I get the bow braced and see how the string tracks I narrow and shape the tips.

I leave the nocks an inch wide to track the string better at brace. I leave the handle full width to track the string better. I shape both after full draw.
