2 blade penetrates better but a 3 blade opens a bigger hole. I use both. It depends of your bows weight also. For lighter bows, say 45# or less I'd go with a 2 blade.

I prefer a 2 blade cut on contact point.
I started out with nothin' and I still got most of it left

The one I use is the Wenzel Woodsman, a 3 blade with an almost 3:1 profile. The Woodsman is a cut on contact also. There are lots of effective 2 blade broadheads also like the Zwickys and the Grizzly.

here is my DL... two blade penetrate better but blood trail can be massive or hardly at all... the slice can quickly plug with fat or tissue...3 blades typically dont penetrate as well however will not clog as quickly as two leaving a much better blood trail to follow..IMO.. the wensel woodsman is the best 3 blade.. I still like the magnus 2 blade they also have a 4 blade which is basically the two blade with a slot for bleeder blades... either work fine and if placement is correct ..meat is served..gut

Agree with all of the above. I really like 3:1 ratio heads, either 3 or 2 blade. I limit my three blade usage to heavier bows, over 50lbs. I also think more that how many blades, is what can you get shaving sharp? I find some heads are easier than others. My sharpening ability is not so good, but I have found that a good file works great with three blades(angle is built in to the head), and a carbide wheel type sharpener works great with two. Soon I will have a bare left arm as I get ready for opener ;D My two...

You may want to consider a lighter bow for better accuracy

Lol not for deer. My uncle drew an elk tag for Colorado so I’m gunna let him use my yew ELB. Thats where this thread came from. He has to use metal points for Colorado. I made some pretty decent shafts from ash I just need to know what points to put on this thing. I’ve got a few weeks to make a decision and get them done.

If I shot 75# bows I would use 3 blade exclusively.
