Forged wrench knife
« on: June 17, 2018, 11:24:50 pm »
I beat this out and finished it today, it's an old broken wrench that I made practicing on my forge. I clayed it and heat treated/tempered and then I did a wire wheel finish on the whole thing. I'm going to give it to my Dad, man has spent half his life with a wrench in his hand and he needs a new blade to cut the bale twine when he's feeding, 83 years old and still working 😉

It did Kevin, it was a old forged made in USA wrench I got for a buck I did a 2 sec warm water quench then put it in oil, but you use superquench right. I know your stuff gets hard

mostly goop from the $50 knife shop
that's what I use to get my hamons.
I warm it till it liquifes.
but I do use superquench on lower carbon content steels like mower blades and rail road spikes.

First off, it doesn't surprise me the ol' boy is still working. Secondly, that's a cool knife and perfect for cutting strings.

Knife is cool and yet another example of Mr Bubs turning trash into treasure.
What's MUCH cooler is the love/respect it represents.
... alone in distant woods or fields, in unpretending sproutlands or pastures tracked by rabbits, even in a bleak and, to most, cheerless day .... .  I suppose that this value, in my case, is equivalent to what others get by churchgoing & prayer.  Hank Thoreau, 1857
