« on: May 13, 2018, 10:17:17 pm »
Here's a section of my stash. I'm starting to run low... need to get out there and cut some more.  )W(
Big thanks to Keenan who was incredibly generous in our last deal.

Oh man! You are getting low! You better get to cutting. What's all in your collection there?

Haha, I tried but it was pretty hard to hold all the wood up in front of the mountains and still take a picture.  ;D

It's mostly pacific yew. There's also vine maple, ocean spray, cascara, osage, crepe myrtle, black locust, hazelnut, lemonwood, hickory, ash, juniper... That's all I can think of off the top on my head.  :D

Thanks for showing this Weylin.  Now I have a picture to show my wife so she can see that I don't have too many staves.  In fact, now I can argue that i need to go out and cut some for staves.  I

Nice stash by the way.

Don't you feel rich when you have a stockpile of staves? I have felt rich for the last 20 years, a view down one wall in the crawlspace under my bedroom, there are two more piles that are not in the picture.

Few weeks ago I was feeling really pleased with my stash of staves seasoned for up to 15 years in my neighbors barn. Went through them, re-stacked them neater. About 60 nice elm staves and a few juniper. Even felt a sting of greed... Went away for a couple weeks and when I got back my neighbor had had a little accident... Got 25 split staves drying now but I promised myself not to take more than I need. feel quite Zen about it after all   )-w(

I have stopped cutting trees for staves.
I figure I've more than enough to use for bows, at my "pace", and would hate that any remaining got wasted as fire wood after I'm gone.

Yeah there's "only" staves for about 60 bows I guess, you desperately need some new staves )-w(
