vinemaple bow

Here is a vinemaple bow, 60lbs at 26". NTN 62". It has about 90 degree twist in the limbs so was pretty challenging to tiller. I know its not pretty but it shoots good and took less than an inch of set. I used fast flight string and it dug deep into the nocks, so I carved them down and put on deer antler tips. I really like VM but it is a tricky wood!

I disagree with you. You say it isn't pretty but I think it looks great. Full draw looks real good. You did a nice job tillerring with that twist.

Great example of a bow with prop twist and full of character getting the job done...Like that wiggly tip at the end...

That might be ugly for someone who likes those mass produced fg stuff which all looks the same but to me this is pure beauty. Nice job on that crooked stick!

Thanks guys. I would not have attempted making a bow out of this piece, but I was inspired by the balance in hand discussions and the no set tillering method. I have work to do on both but appreciate the threads on these topics a lot.

Nice job helmet. I just love em "just a little on the trashy side " as long as they bend and shoot good all the extra wiggles and bumps are pleasing to my eyes.
Nice bend, nice wiggles, nice bow.
