To me, that is the hardest skill to learn. How much wood makes this much weight fall off? Or, how much wood makes this much limb bend?

I used the weigh the wood that came off when I thinned the tips,, so I could see if there was a cast difference,,
now I just spit ball,,

  i used to weigh my scrapes, 1# mass weight to 1,000 scrapes ( roughly)

I still do that. This last one I took 8 grams off the tips. I figure I used it all up when I served the center of the string.

Oops!  I used about 400 scrapes or so of hickory to start the smoker !
