Osage/sinew shorty
« on: May 07, 2018, 10:05:39 am »
So I’m way behind posting this one, it’s a 50” Osage and sinew, rattlesnake skin courtesy of Cipriano.  Never quite got the tip alignment perfect, but I finished her off back in August I think.  Pulls 50# at 22. This was my first go at a stave, as well as sinew backing. Up to this point I had made 6 board bows. This one was a big jump forward for me, and although it’s far from perfect I’m proud of how it turned out.  I got a lot of inspiration from these pages, and would like to recognize PatM in particular for the “smooth sinew” tutorial. I did my best to follow it and although the sinew never looked had as good as his, i was pleased with my results.  Thanks to all who share their knowledge so freely with beginners like me.

Hopefully the pictures post, first time using Flickr.

Thanks

That's nothing to sneeze at!  It just plain begs to be taken hunting.

Love the finish on this bow! I'm sure it's a fun little shooter.  I need to try one of these.

Thanks for the positive feedback guys! DuBois yes it is. The handle is built up with cork so you don’t really feel the bend though.
