Cherokee inspired bow
« on: April 08, 2018, 06:51:24 pm »
Hello everyone, I just finished up a bow for a gentleman down in Virginia. He wanted a Cherokee inspired bow. It follows the dimensions length, width and the diamond nocks. I did however narrow the handle some to make it closer to center shot. I also rolled the brain tanned leather handle over on top (what he asked for) so he had a place to line the arrow up every time consistently. I finished the tips with deer rawhide and dyed them to match the handle . The stave was a neat one with bumps and wiggles throughout its length. The bow is 62" long and is 52#@28" It is for a left hander  but shoots either or up or down. In the pic i am drawing it left handed which i shouldnt of tried. I never drew a bow left handed and being 50lbs it was a bear. I made 3 two fletch arrows for him to go with the bow. He plans on using it for turkey season.

That's a beautiful bow. I love it!

Nice bow ntv sure be cool if he got a turkey with it. I know what you mean about the drawing a bow left handed. I've got a bunch of lefties in the family and the first time I drew left handed really felt odd. I've gotten pretty use to it now.

Nice looking bow. That’s a good looking piece of wood. Just enough character to keep you on your toes I bet. I like how you did the tips. Good job.

Nice job -cool bow!  Hope the owner gets his turkey!  Btw, that right handed draw is a real problem, especially with repaired shoulders!  Left is much easier (SH) :NN >:D. But 45-50# is my max!

I'd be willing to take her to the dance!

 ntv,
That bow has lots of character...When it comes to self bows, no two are alike...That's what makes each one interesting...Your friend should be really pleased...
