B-50

I’m working on my first heavy HHB longbow and only have b-50 Dacron and am wondering how many strands to use for a 80-90lbs bow? Not quite a warbow but the heaviest I’ve attempted so far, 70” ttt.

 I think it is rated at 50# and you need a minimum of 6X draw weight. Because of stretch we usually use more on b 50 I would say 16 to 18 strands would be plenty.

Yeah, B-50 is plenty STRONG,as in, you aren't going to break it, but it's stretchy, of course.   Give it a break in stretch if you can.

14-16, some will argue but I had a good friend who shot a #75 long bow and he made his 12 strands, never had an issue. If you get right down to it 12 will work on almost any thing you could pull, but would make me nervous over #60. I use a 12 on all my bows #35-#60.
