Good advice above and we can't say too many times don't rush, take as much time as you need. And as Del was saying develop a critical eye. mastering tillering a bow will be you first big step. Study tillers on your bows and bows posted here. Every time you take wood off the bow changes even if you can't see it. I never think of myself as lowering the weight on a bow when I am chasing my target weight I only think about perfecting the tillering, the weight continues to drop as I work on the tiller. So get the proper tiller in as early as you can and then just keep perfecting it until you hit target weight.
