Thanks Hoosier. Does the paste wax keep the sharpie marker from coming off? I had a scrap piece that I was testing. Tru oil will go over a paint pen, but I can’t write legibly with a paint pen. I have silver sharpies that show up on the dark bow belly but the tru oil wipes the sharpie off.

Morgan the wax keeps it on quite well and doesn’t smear.

Has there been an update on who's ready to ship? Just curious. I just don't want to send a bow to someone who is not ready to ship one out.

I would ask that no one ship yet.  I was confident everyone would be ready to ship by the deadline but I am not certain yet.  I do have a reserve bow ready to go in case someone doesn't get a bow built.  I will post a status update next week.  I do know not everyone has posted pictures of a finished bow so if you have one done and haven't posted a picture, please do.

I just have to write on the belly, put a coat of wax over and lace up the leather.

I would really like to mark on the bow that I’m sending, but right now I’m not sure if it will happen. Dark inks and dark sharpies will not show up, and have tested light colored sharpies on a test piece and tru oil, Johnson’s wax, and MinWax finishing wax all immediately rub the marker off. Black and blue sharpie marker stays put. More experimenting I guess.

Morgan,
Would a wood burner show up, pyroglyphics? How dark is your bow?

Don, it would have but I had read somewhere to sandwich the writing between two layers of top coat and I had a bunch of tru oil over the bow already. I found a blue sharpie that pretty much shows up and didn’t rub off so I used that. Got the leather on the handle. I will twist up a string and post pics tomorrow.

well here she right after a shooting session. right now pegging 57@26 so I'm real happy with that as my plan was 55@26. got a little sanding to do and then pretty her up. all in all I'm happy with it. it's a character bow with wiggles and pin knots so it kinda made the profile a little wonky especially since I'm used to hickory bows where you basically snap lines for your profile. but I'm happy with how it turned out. wish I would have drawn my own name lol. I now see why so many love osage. very minimal set and after a while the limbs come back with a little reflex.

Alright, I sent a couple messages out to some that have not posted they have a finished bow or have told me they have a finished bow.  If you got a message from me, please get back to me as quickly as possible.  If you didn't get a message from me, that is because I know where you stand (ready to ship).

I will update as I know more.

Thanks.

I lied about getting pics up. Rained cats and dogs while I was off. Hopefully tomorrow. I would like to ship Thursday. If I don’t, it will have to be Monday as I work Friday-Sunday 6-8 so shipping fri or Saturday isn’t an option for me.
