Heat-treating Bl.Walnut?

Hey everybody. I have made many lightweight (up to the high 30's lb.) bl. walnut bows from a tree I felled 3 years ago. It seems exceptionally light with fat growth rings. I was fortunate enough to get about 40 good staves from it and the bows shoot fast and smooth. I'd like to try heat-treating  to increase performance . Is this a good idea for bl. walnut?

I just heat treated a short and wide BW bow. Increased the weight by about 7lbs.

Black walnut takes a heat treating well. Just a little on the difficult  side to see if youve got the darkness you want after you get the wood up to temperature.
