46# Black Locust

HI folks. Its been a pleasure being part of this forum group since I joined a few months ago. I don't post much but follow along on many of the threads as much as I can. It always makes my day to see a new bow added in a new thread. SO many top notch bows are made by so many folks here! I'm sure many others are think the same. SO please consider this my contribution to the community
My latest bow is a 68"ntn Blank Locust. One limb had some natural reflex(~2") other limb was flat. SO made my 1st cull to even things out while heat treating the belly. Steamed the handle to correct string tracking. Still some twist and wiggles but I like things that way. I wanted the limbs 2" at fades but had some problem areas in the wood on the corners that were better taken out. So dimensions ended up 1 7/8 out of fades to 1 5/8 10" from the tip where they taper to <1/2. Tip overlays are hickory hart wood from a branch that fell this summer from a very old tree at my work.( very fitting use for this bow). Mixed green and black wood dye for handle area, it fades out towards tips.
This bow goes to a friend of mine from work. I started trying to make bows about 2 years ago. He has one of the 1st ones I made, a red oak 30#er with about 3-4" of string follow and he still is as pleased with it as I was when I made it. I am lucky because I can shoot at work and he joins me about once a week. I felt it was time for an upgrade for him, This bow had to be my best, no excuses. After shooting in bow it still has an inch of reflex, 1st time that has happened for me!( thank you mass principle)
Bow is 46# at 28 ". I really like how it shoots. Tips may be a bit heavy but wanted them a little stiff. The problem I have now is its better then my own bow lol. Cant wait to see him shoot it!
I really tried to step it up on this one from start to finish including pictures. Comments good or bad always welcome. Thanks for looking!
Cheers Mike

Very nice locust bow, M2A and beautiful tiller. From the unbraced pic I'd say you've been paying attention. Nicely done!

Very nice M2A, yes your buddy is going to like it and I'm sure it's going to be faster than the first one you made him.
