Has anyone tried using American Beech for a selfbow

Yep....I like it...it's easy to work ....just like Sycamore is....but it is a Biotch to Cut....If that makes any sense to you!!! Really Hard wood

BK, you say you have access to a 7' log. When was it cut and how has it been handles since it was cut?  It is white wood and fungi attacks whitewood pretty quickly.    Just be aware before you put too much time into making staves and bows from it.  ;)      Pat

Thanks for all the responses - The tree was blown over during a wind storm about a month ago. I was able to save three  7' logs - 12", 11" ,8".
Already split out a total of 27 staves.
