« on: February 04, 2018, 09:21:06 am »
Here's a quiver I did some time ago.Along with a few more from the past. Can't remember if I showed it yet.Put a little beadwork on it too.Saw tooth design No.8 ponytrader beadwork.Veg tan 1/4" thick cup into bottom for arrow tip abuse and wear.30" dogwoods in the quiver with osage stiffener stick.Fun cold weather project to do.

Ed, you are truly a man of many talents. I really like the clean lines of your bead work. I need to try some bead work before these old eyes go to pot. Very nice work. Bob

Thanks fellas. It may seem like old hat displaying these things to some but if it can inspire someone to take up the work it is more rewarding then. It's not everybodys cup of tea though.
Another winter time project....A while back I poked a rambunctious otter trying to eat the fish in my pond. It's a problem around here many pond owners have. They will clean out a normal 1/2 acre pond in a month no problem.Especially people who stock their ponds.I fleshed and tanned him in the tube shape.Lined him with wool trade cloth and beaded him up.I stick my blunt arrows there to store.
The majority of the beadwork is done with red/white heart background with pony trader blue and greasy yellow designs.Rather large beads used.No.8 pony beads' size to cover more area quicker. All sioux lazy stitched.

Ed you are a inspiration for sure. You do top shelf work and I love the style and use of materials. That's pretty cool how if I see it right you did the bead work on the leather side of otters tail.
Thanks for posting

Really nice quivers.
I personally don't like to to  beadwork, that is not compatible with my fingers. You have done a very fine job.

Thanks fellas.Used to be I could bead without glasses but nowadays  I need to use some cheap readers from the dollar store. The otter is more display and storage of arrow shafts as all that glass on the tail really increases the weight overall but it can be used yet.
In fact for overall use hunting or stump shooting I like the old no frills plain beef rawhide tube cat quiver.

It's always pleasure to see what you've made, Ed. Whether it was made 2 days or 2 years ago.
Thanks for sharing.

Thanks.Actually the otter was done more than 2 yeas ago.Just never showed it.One thing about these thin straps made to carry the quiver.I've found to put a trade wool or at least a canvas backing on those straps so they slide rather easily across your body during the hot hot weather sweating.Stiffer veg tanned straps alone work well though too.Canvas straps work the best overall.
