Osage 5curve take down 60#/28” (No. 101)
« on: February 04, 2018, 03:51:51 am »
This is a very hard shooting bow for it's drawweight, probably because of it's light (mass) limbs. The limbs come out of the fades with a belly ridge so they have a 5 edge cross section, in the last 4” before tips they change into a triangular shape.

The td sleeves are home made. Handle is built up with osage and glued in already with reflex. Handle leather is multiple dyed salmon leather (not skin).
Arrow pass is stingray leather.
Tips are black buffalo horn shaped in facetts.

ntn: 57”
bh: 5”
max w: 1⅜”
mass brutto: 688 gram
mass netto: 502 gram
mass sleeves: 186 gram

Very nice Simson. Would have never guessed it was a takedown.

I admire the results that you achieve on shorter bows. What really speaks to me is the fact that each bow is unique from the handle to the tip over lays.
I have 2 of your bows bookmarked for incentive to build a better bow. This one is one to aspire to - top notch!

Lovely bow!

I would be interested in knowing what kind of epoxy or glue you use to adhere the wood into the metal takedown sleeves?

Very nice Simon. What are the black rings at the handle made of?

Another awesome bow Simon! Nice to see those five curves, not many people make those. You got this bow working to the max at fulldraw too, string is almost 90 degrees. Great bow! Oh love that is is kinda snakey as well (AT)
