Blue Ice
« on: December 30, 2017, 03:28:44 pm »
It's just a old TV. I was on a roll for awhile. Then I broke everything I touched for awhile. Slowed down on this one. Glad I didn't break it yet. I think I know just what kinda handle I'm going to make.

That's what I would call knapping up an Ice Storm.
My guess, a Christmas tree wood handle, covered in ermine fur.
Because snow shoe rabbit fur is not tough enough and Arctic fox
fur is too long and might shed way down in Michigan.

It's been hanging right around zero here. I'd love to get a arctic fox hide Zuma. Now you got me completely rethinking my handle.

Nice blade!  Ermine would make a nice handle cover, complement the blue very well!  Btw, what is the safest, least messy way to salvage a tv or computer screen?  Thanks

Thanks Hawkdancer, you guys got me second guessing my handle now. I agree the ermine would look good. Hawkdancer the easiest least messy way is  when someone just brings me the glass in a five gallon bucket.lol. Otherwise the ones I got were in a junk trailer headed for their final resting grounds. Might be better ways but I just took a ball pien hammer and made a couple strategic taps. I then collect the pieces lightly abrade them so their not so sharp and wash them off really good. I'm pretty sure nothing inside that picture tube is good for you.

Before recycling I used to put the TV set on a tarp and let
my kids pitch rocks at it from a good distance.
Aquadag coating should be washed off as BJ says.
I remember being instructed in my military electronics training
that it was not good for you. I did a quick google but didn't find out why.
It's messy nonetheless. A friend of mine has been successful in leaving
on the  electrical connection and creating a cool biface too. 8)

I think that in northern Mich. Minn., and the Rockies, that is spining!  (S) (S) >:D. We hit about 16 F for a high today, about the same expected for tomorrow.  Wind chill about -2, about -10 up in Cheyenne!

Thanks Eddie, Thanks Rob.
Hawkdancer the big lake kinda helps keep us from getting really cold. Hardly ever get colder than about -14. It really doesn't usually stay below zero for very many days. I'm just glad our wind died down. Happy New Year everyone

That coating is one or the reasons the old tubes are classed as hazmat!  I think I will forego the pleasure of working it right now and use my old smoke blue desk cover! :KN!

I think I caught a cold looking at the pics!
