Arrow shelf point of contact

I was just watching this Clay Hayes video

 In it he says he puts the point of contact as close to the belly side of the handle as he can. When I started making bows I read the opposite, maybe in TBB, I can't remember. The reason given was that it reduced the angle of the arrow so it didn't have to bend as much, if I'm remembering right. If you even think about this kind of stuff what would be your take on it?

     I don't really know the correct answer but it is something I have thought about quite a bit. I usually set the point of contact at about the middle of the shelf. The only times I have played with it were when I was not happy with the arrow flight I might move a piece of leather around till I get it right.

Middle of the side of the bow. Mine are pretty small there so I don't have room to move them, and they shoot just lovely there anyway.

I try to reduce the angle even if I have to remove some wood to do so. Jawge
