Christmas present #1
« on: December 13, 2017, 11:31:53 am »
I've still been pretty busy but at least I've got before and after work now. Santa's elves have been real busy after the day shift leave the farm shop. This one the elves knapped out of some Obsidian. They halved it to a white tail Antler and put a red cedar button on. Glued together with pine pitch.  Funny this elve has the same user name as I do.

That's slick, I like the base...how you finished it with that wood piee.  Looks good all around.

They all look impressive, BJ.
... alone in distant woods or fields, in unpretending sproutlands or pastures tracked by rabbits, even in a bleak and, to most, cheerless day .... .  I suppose that this value, in my case, is equivalent to what others get by churchgoing & prayer.  Hank Thoreau, 1857

Very nice. Interesting that you put the knife blade in the crown and put a butt cap on the tine.  That's a good idea for future work here on the west coast.

Whats that big chunk of black and brown stuff?

Thanks Knoll I appreciate the kind words and will pass them on to the elves.

Thanks jeb, I kinda like using the crown end for the blade. Sometimes if the brow time is in just the right spot for my thumb gard I'll make the crown the button end. It always kinda depends on how it feels in my hand as to which end is which.
That big chunk of brown and red stuff is the first "stone" I ever bought. It's a piece of Mahogany Obsidian that Frank sold this farm boy on my first trip to Marshall. Still can't believe I'm spending good$$ on rocks.

Thanks Eddie,I certainly hope so.

Your elves went and did it now BJ. Using Bambi's Dad's horn
and Rudolph's nose to make pointy presents for children.
Not to mention that they forge your name to them.
Put those elves out here (S) (S) (S) and (AT) (AT)

You know what Zuma, I never thought of it that way. You think their trying to set me up? I may have just been framed. In fact I'm pretty sure my finger prints are all over that knife. Hope this doesn't put me on the naughty list.

Just have to hope your lump of coal has been heat and pressure treated to turn it clear! :KN

That's what I'm hoping to Hawkdancer. Shinny Black would be find. As long as it's knapable.
