white ash 80# 30"
« on: December 03, 2017, 03:14:02 pm »
Hi every one, this is my first post. :D
I made an bow out a white ash(80# 30),the wood was very challenging, lots of kinks,knots...,I steam bend it a couple of times.
The bow is 176cm long and 3.5cm wide, the bow took a little set.
the overlays on the tips are of the walnut, the finis is traditional:coated with a pig's fat and bees wax.
I make bows a few years and this piece was interesting,so i will be appreciated to tell me your oppinion.
sorry for bad English

Nice bend you have there!
Surely a challenging piece of wood. We don't often see character bows that are not yew or osage.
Your draw on the picture looks more like 30".

Considering all the knots that is a very smooth bend, great job!

I have to say that is a nice looking bow, lots of character.  It also looks to me like you are drawing it more than 27".  Well done
