Those guys are around in the Kentucky woods, but not this time of year.  We need to keep an eye out opening day for about 6-8 weeks.  Opening archery season starts first Saturday in Sept. it can be pretty hot then.

I think this one will get traded.  I made a pretty girly sounding noise when I almost put my foot down about six inches from those inch long fangs. Not a memory I care to relive.  I was five miles from a paved road, no snake boots, wearing my well broke in ankle high muck boots - this bad boy would have had no problem in changing my hunting season for me.  I have been hunting and fishing in southern swamps all my life and this was the closest call that I have had.  My eyes aren't as sharp as they once were.  I think I am going to invest in some of those snake guards for my lower legs.

Leggings sound like a very wise investment!  That thing could have really ruined your hunt!  Not to mention your day!  Hide looks good!

That’s a nice skin. I hate the smell those jokers put off when skinning them. But they look great on a bow.

I'm always jealous of you Southern boys with all the snakes around down there, but I guess the grass is always greener. At least I don't have to worry about getting bit by something like that.  :o

Glad you're okay Rhodes.  ;)

I feel a lot the same as Upstate. I really kinda like snakes but I don't have any I have to worry about hurting me or my family. It's kinda nice to be able to walk in the woods in the dark and be the top predator to. Sure glad you didn't get bit, should look great on a bow.
