Can a proud dad brag a little bit?
« on: October 21, 2017, 06:50:11 pm »
I've posted about my daughter running before on here.  She won the sectional meet this year.  She's the first girl in school history to do that.  She cruised to a 4th place finish at the regional meet last weekend.  Today was the semi state meet.  She went all out and dropped 40 seconds off her time from last week at the same course.  She set a new school record and qualified for the state finals meet next weekend.  I don't think it's possible to be more proud than I am right now.  She has ran over 500 miles since the cross country season started this summer.  She has put in the hard work to get to where she is.

There was a big crowd today.  The course is pretty much lined with people the entire way.

The home stretch.

I would have never imagined my chubby little girl would have grown up to be such a good runner.

Wow!!!  40 seconds off her time?   (A)
How interesting...I wonder what made her commit so deeply.  Stuff like that fascinates me.
I coached xc for a few years...what was her time, Clint?

She ran a 19:04 today.  Her coach told her not to go all out last week.  They knew she would qualify for semi state easily.  She beat the school record by 15 seconds.  We are hoping she will be in the 18's next season.   Her coach told us that her time at the 2 mile mark was faster than the record for the 2 mile track record.

Parnell, she is very mature for her age and she has an incredible work ethic.  If she wants to do something shes going to work hard and be the best she can be at it.  She's also the top student in her class.  We are hoping for some scholarship offers.  She has had several college coaches express interest in her running for them.

Congratulations to you and your daughter, Clint. That's quite an accomplishment for her.  :OK
Clint, I hope she doesn't see your "chubby little girl" comment. I raised a daughter and I know for a fact daughters don't like that talk.  :o

That's fantastic Clint.Kuddos to your daughter. She's learning early you get what you put into life.Never be a quitter.Nothing wrong with being competitive and striving to be the best. It'll benefit her later on in life. It's great she's got parents that back her up.

That's awesome man. 15 years of teaching has shown me that that kind of "grit" starts with parents who really care, and who inspire their kids with the example they set.  :) Kinda rare nowadays if you ask me.
