Garter/Beech ALB
« on: October 08, 2017, 05:44:10 pm »
Here's my latest...

American Beech
Garter Snake skins (2 snakes total)
64" ntn
58# at 27"
Thorough heat treatment
Stained w/ dark-brown RIT dye
Cow horn overlays
Suede handle wrap
Leather arrow pass

This bow makes me want to start hunting. It's quiet as a mouse, hits incredibly hard and I'm pretty sure it blends right into the forest. I forgot how much I love this wood. It's one of my favorite white woods for sure. Thanks for looking.  :)

Very nice.  Don't know why you don't see more Beech bows.  I've made several over the years and I found it to be a better bow-wood than White Ash

Thank you Morgan.  :)

I hear ya Marc. I can't think of any reason other than not enough people have tried it out. I'm glad you like it.

Looks like a nice bow.  It doesn't seem like Beech staves are made available much.

Have you been able to spend time with any other bow makers in person yet, UpState?

^ I wish. I've never even met another bow maker face to face.  :( I feel like there must be absolutely no substitute for it. I swear I'm gonna make to Marshall next year.

That's a sweet bow Jeff. I really like it. Those garter skins look great. I'm going to have to try the American Beechwood. You'd look real good hunting with that one.

PS you really gotta get to Marshall. Bring the whole family. You will all love it. It gonna be a great time. The 25th annual

Thanks a bunch everyone.

BJ, is Marshal on the same date every year? The earlier I know about it the earlier I can start to plan.

OO, make sure you bring that one-string guitar.  ;)

I'm happy that you dig the bow Ed. I'd be happy to send you some beech one of these days.  )W(

Hawk, your right about the snakes.  They were moving into a friend's house and she begged me to get rid of them.  >:D

Thanks Korey.

Really nice! Good to see you picking your local woods! You don's see that many beech bows!
