Del's Yew Purpleheart Boo ELB
« on: October 04, 2017, 03:26:43 am »
I've made this for an ace lady archer so I've blinged it up really pretty.
I used my tapering machine made from an old power plane to taper the Purpleheart and the Yew billets. The Yew was heat treated before glue up and I glued it all in one hit with about 1" of gentle reflex.
She wanted it 45# or a bit over. It looks nearer 50# in the FD , but some of that is due to camera angle, I think its about 47#
The arrow plate ias Abalone and the grip is Rolls Royce upholstery leather  8)
I think she'll like it  ;D

Well now, that must be one special lady to deserve an outstanding bow like that.  (-S And the Rolls Royce upholstery leather... only Del the cat could have thought of a finishing touch like that.  ;)

Cheers guys, just noticed the FD pic looks a bit waggly on the back, that's where the resolution has been reduced to get it in the 200kb limit. :(
Better pics om blog

That's a pretty sweet bow!  May have to make something like that for the wife someday.  Heck... maybe I'll make one for myself, as well!

quite nice finish and execution, Del.
Any thing special on the back? Maybe a boo pic?

I'll post more pics tomorrow,  but here's another...
BTW . Nothing special on the back, I prefer a clean simple low shine finish. Understated British, stiff upper lip, no fancy nonsense, that's the spirit  ;)
