I have a piece I just boiled to recurve the tips. Very pretty long streaks that run tip to tip continuous. When I boiled it, the streaks disolved into the water same as the rest of the color of the osage. Now osage always dulls in water. These streaks doing the same tells me streaks are just concentrated osage oils, sap, or whatever it is about osage that makes it change color to a dark red. I no konger think its mineral streaks, unless its minerals that make osage its normal color anyway.
