Hurricane Harvey
« on: August 25, 2017, 08:03:10 am »
You guys in Southeast Texas better batten down the hatches. Looks like this hurricane could be a biggy. Some areas expecting up to 36" of rain over the weekend. Be safe everyone!

That's just a plain phenominal amount of rain. The most I've ever seen it rain in my life was 7" in about 4 to 5 hours.

36" you'd better find some really high ground. I'm with Ed I've seen 7" twice and that's a lot. Wouldn't wish 36 on anyone 3 to 6" is a lot

My daughter lives in Houston. She said she told her office workers to stay home and work from there until it all clears up.
A few years back we had 3 remnants of hurricanes come up from the Gulf and we had 28" in a month. We get lots of rain here anyway but that was a lot. We've already over 50" this year.

Yea Pat 36" is just plain crazy. I'd be building a arc and loading the animals in pairs if it was here.

Thanks Pat we've already had  an above normal amount of rain this summer  so this can get out of hand quickly with the surge pushing up the bayous and tropical deluges. If you have ever flooded in the past get out. I live in Galveston county and have never flooded at my house and we are staying put, I have gas for the generator and plenty of supplies just in case. I lost power for 10 days after Hurricane Ike and it was a cat 2 with 110 mph.

We don't see 36 inches here in a whole year, nevermind in one day. Good luck to you and be safe.

Yea, and it's going to stick around for a few days. For my Norther buddies, that much rain is common when a slow moving Hurricane comes ashore. They also had a 12' storm surge from the Gulf.

My daughter live in the middle of Houston. She sent a pic this morning with water up to her apartment building.
Primitive Archer's office and warehouse are also in Houston. Let us keep everyone involved in our thought and prayers.
