Finished this bighorn sheep bow recently. 46" long, 62# draw @ 27". I used a trophy set of Rocky My bighorns over 30" around the curl for this one. 140 grams of processed sinew on the back with Montana rattler to protect it. 3 ply elk sinew string. I've lost track of how many of these I have made but this is about #30 I think. About 1 year from start to finish. Top limb is a little longer. My favorite so far. Because of the materials they are made out of the bow weighs a lot (19.3oz) and that affects arrow speed, but the reflex, overdraw and heavy draw weight make up for that. I also used a little less sinew towards the tips that I made as narrow as I dared. I was happy this bow was shooting 8 gpp arrows an average of 185 fps. 9.5 gpp just a few fps slower. I think it would be hard to make a bighorn bow this long weigh much more than 60#. I tried to remove as little horn as possible to get it to this weight. I used heat to remove a bit of the reflex to make the bow more stable.
The quiver for this bow was made by Norbert Kohlruss of travels-far trading. He is the best replicator of bead and quill work I have seen.
Thanks for looking
