Decrowned Osage limb Maple backed
« on: July 21, 2017, 05:40:09 pm »
this one started out much longer and I did not catch when I glued up twist in top tip. Trimmed it down few inches to take the twist out. I chose the deflex side of the limb due to knots on the reflex side but I didn't want. I planned the glue joint by hand. 1/8th inch Maple back with wenge tips and tips and handle. 57 ntn and around 45 at 24/25. Surprisingly fast and very easy to shoot for a short one. Thanks for looking

a few more. Funny I did the timer on my cell phone for the full draw and it makes me look like I'm shooting left-handed

Sweet! You snuck that one right by me.

I've made plenty of wood backed bows Bill, just haven't in awhile.  I don't have a lot of my wood tools set up for easy access so I typically stay away. If I had a nice shop that was set up and never had to be broke down I would make a lot more. Since I got married and had 2 kids I've been left with only a 16 ft by 16 ft shed

Chris I made this one over a year ago but threw it in the corner do the twist in the limb. It was a 64" r/d

Nice job doing all the planing by hand! I've tried that, but never succeeded. Everything looks sweet!

That's a really nice looking little bow there, Paul. Good looking tiller and creative and aesthetic finish work.

Real nice work!  Got to watch those camera flips, though - they do funny things to your shot placement >:D
