Simple osage...FD pg 4
« on: July 19, 2017, 10:16:35 am »
I'll get the full draw pic tonite, I hope. Been a circus around home this week.

66" ntn, 51-52# at my draw length. The over lays and handle build up are ewe horn scraps from Chuck. The finish is one coat of shellac wiped on followed by 4 coats of Helmsman clear satin spray. Nothing fancy. Its a back up to my Baby when she breaks, and they all do someday, that's if you actually shoot them :)

Very nice PD! It's nice to see bows from people we look to for advice. Gives us a level to shoot at. Do you have a sideways view of the handle?

Nice bow, Pearlie. I've got a similar one in the works.

Nice work, bro. The horn looks cool on the heel of the grip like that.
Straight wood may make a better bow, but crooked wood makes a better bowyer

This is as close to what you want as I have, Don. I narrowed and thinned here and there after these were taken. But, you get the idea. Its not nearly as difficult to "make" as it looks. Rasp and grab, rasp and grab, shoot, shoot, rasp and grab, shoot. :)

Thanks for the comments, fellers. I haven't posted my bows in a while. Figured it was time to share a few pics.

Thanks bushy. The upper comes off the handle with a lot more reflex than the lower. It makes the upper look weak and very positive at brace. But, it balances and shoots like a dream. And I've shot at least 200 arrows from it with no change in the profile.
