Here is the fix for the chipped out place;
My initial repair sux;
Positioned a toe plate;
Scribed the stock width on the plate, senior moment, I should have inletted the plate first as the stock get bigger as it goes toward the center.
Cutting the toe plate t my scribed lines;
Marking for my first cut;
Inletted with the stock wood trimmed to the plate that I cut about 1/16" too narrow;
I had to file the butt plate to the new narrower width.
Done, a little extra bling never hurts. Of course I will have to refinish part of the stock to make everything perfect but I will be satisfied with the fix.
