I like quotations of naming the bows bjrogg.Kinda brings a person closer to the bow in a sense.My neighbor who shot compounds checked my bows out once.I told him the process first of tillering and the danger of overdrawing etc.
What does he do...He yanks it clear back to his earlobe.A good 30 + inches.Then says yep it felt like 58#'s like I told him it was.It took another strong 1/4" of set doing that.
Another situation....Some Amish were looking at a bow of mine.I thought I was smart and handed it to him unstrung.Nope.He takes it bends it over his knee backwards for the heck of it.I stopped him then asked him what it was he was trying to find out?He did'nt know for sure because they don't understand.
You'll have to be the diplomatic promoter of self bows in your family bjrogg.Educating them on things.

Yes Ed, he knows I told him. He just got over come with, well whatever. He knows I'm serious and that just because it doesn't break doesn't mean it's not hurting it.
Leonwood I don't think I'll have to order him. He really is jeeked about how his bow shoots.
Thanks Pappy I did get it sanded, wiped some stain on and one coat of tru oil on for now. Got some ideas yet I might try.

My cousin I made this bow for told me if I got a deer with my bow last year he was going to come back to hunt here this fall. I finished up his "deep roots" bow and a stone point and practice point arrow. He's been shooting it a lot since he got back and hunting every day with it. So far he hasn't gotten a shot at a deer yet, but I told him that can change in a second. He has a fiberglass takedown bow he has been shooting for almost two years. He just can't believe how nice his Selfbow shoots. He said it so much smoother and quieter than his fg. He just wanted it simple but we both really like how it turned out. The pictures don't do it justice but I'll post them anyway.
