Birch bark

I happened upon a guy that had removed a Birch tree so I grabbed one of the best pieces. Birch doesn't grow here except for ornamentals so It's a bit of a find
. I got the bark off. It's 33.5"x12". Is there any special treatment it needs? It's been down for a month or so.

You can let it dry or go ahead and use it however you planned to use it.

Birch bark has layers. the outer is most violated and not usable
the inner layers thin as possible is the best backing.

Can you get away with using one layer? They are only .002-.003" thick.

It's only decorative so one, maybe 2 layers should be OK.
